Meet Kate Sadowsky, your Community Guide

I had moderate-to-severe Rheumatoid Arthritis through my teens and twenties. At age 22, I went rogue from the conventional medicine I grew up with and started exploring other options. My pain and inflammation went down by 50% when I started meditating and managing fear and stress differently. It went down another 50% when I learned about Ayurveda and changed my diet and lifestyle. I lived with daily pain for fifteen years. And now I don't.

I don't have flare-ups or gas or indigestion, because I understand what makes me healthy. And while food is one part of it, that's not the whole picture. I had to understand how my body metabolizes (breaks down substances, efficiently uses what it needs, and gets rid of the rest) and that involves the state of my mind, my environment, and my habits.

While it sounds like a lot to consider, these are the building blocks of a well-lived, intentional, purposeful life. I don't take care of my body to get an award at the end of the day: I do it so I have the energy to give back to my community, to be present with my daughter, to support others on their journeys, to have difficult conversations, to full-belly laugh, to experience delight in the small stuff and clarity for the big stuff.

Along the way, I spent swaths of time time sitting at bedsides in hospice, traveling through India, leading habit change groups in virtual reality, teaching meditation, doing bodywork, earning a Masters Degree in Holistic Health Education and being conferred the title of Vaidya Bhushana after five years of study in clinical Ayurveda.
